Do I think Painswick is a good golf course? Not particulalry. There\'s a couple of really good holes and a bunch of memorable ones, but the walk is a killer. However, would i play there again, absolutely. It\'s quirky and cheap, so what\'t not to love.
Superb clubhouse and putting green, and an immaculate Colt/Vardon parkland course.
If it wasn\'t ranked Top 50 in the world, more people (myself included), would probably love it here. Could be one of the best 9/12 hole courses in the world, but the church holes let it down. I\'d play Perranporth 7 - 3 St Enedoc given the choice.
Far from easily accessible, but you\'d be a fool to not make the drive to an Alister MacKenzie links with 5 different routings, that can be played for as little as £35. Best value course in England imo.
One of the most enjoyable places in English golf. An easy walk, wonderful clubhouse and veranda, two-ball golf with labradors off their leads, epic green complexes, and the perfect amount of quirk.
