Bethpage Black
Bethpage Black is America’s greatest public golf course challenge. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1936, this brutal parkland layout on Long Island has hosted the US Open (2002, 2009), PGA Championship (2019), and the 2025 Ryder Cup. A warning sign at the first tee advises only highly skilled golfers to attempt it – and it delivers on that promise with demanding length and penal rough.
